IF YOU were to do business with a certain merchant in
New York City’s fabulous diamond center, on 47th St.
between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, you would only be too
aware of the truth of this statement. Soft spoken, mild
mannered Morey Lehrman is somewhat of an anomaly to
the guys and gals who deal in the valuable hard carbon,
watches and other costly trinkets along this street of gems.
They regard him with awe and concern that maybe some
of the gears in his mental mechanism need cleaning and
adjusting.
You would hardly expect a man who overhauls the
finest watches, as well as being versed in the mysteries of
diamonds, to ride a snarling scrambler over dirt and
through the woods, or to take cross country jaunts on a
BMW R-60. His colleagues along the street do not expect
such goings on from one of their kind either: hence their
concern.
Morey, who saw plenty of Front Line action in World
War Two, has a zest for living and stamina that would
be the envy of many people twenty years younger than he.
A graduate of motor scooters, having owned a Lambretta
and a Five Star Prima, the power and acceleration of
the Big Wheels has now gotten under his skin. At present
he owns the aforementioned BMW and a Triumph Tiger
Cub. The BMW is an all-white job, with good taste in
chrome and accessories, that never fails to catch the eye
of motorcyclists and other citizens who get about on four
wheels.
