A VERY RARE FIND!!9” IMPRESSIVE & REGAL
antique door knocker
I believe this to be circa 1795-1840
AMERICAN BALD EAGLE…SURROUNDED BY A WREATH
THE PATINA IS SPECTACULAR
SOLID CAST BRASS….NOT BRASS PLATED
PERFECT WORKING ORDER
THIS IS WORTHY OF THE FINEST HOME!! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ON A MANSION SUCH A GOVERNORS ESTATE, A STATE BUILDING, COURTHOUSE OR A WEALTHY PRIVATE MANSION!!
MOUNTING: I will include the hardware for mounting to a door which is 1 3/4”thick which is most exterior doors. If your door is a different thickness you can obtain your own mounting hardware or contact me before you purchase, give me your door thickness in “inches” & I will do my best to supply the needed hardware.
You will need to drill 2 holes to accommodate a 1/4” thick bolt. The holes are 3” apart on center(from the center of one screw hole to center of the other screw hole) & need to be level in the horizontal plane. The mounting is easy for any handyman or person with basic home restoration skills!
FYI: WHEN IT IS MOUNTED THERE IS A SMALL SPACE BETWEEN THE BACK & THE DOOR MAKING IT STAND OUT FROM THE DOOR, THAT IS HOW IT WAS MADE!!
I COLLECT BALD EAGLE DOOR KNOCKERS & BALD EAGLE ANTIQUES. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING CLOSE TO THE BEAUTY & IMPRESSIVE SIZE OF THIS KNOCKER. THE PATINA IS WORLD CLASS, I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE PATINA ON THE BREAST SHIELD!!
