Description
This antique mechanical doorbell set was made by Reading Hardware and patented in 1899.  The bell cover and push-button plate are cast brass with the original japanning giving them both warm, coppery striations. The bell is activated by the push button and rod, which connects to the bell through your door.  The bell, which produces a higher-toned repeating ring, is a cool example of American ingenuity and cross between Victorian design and modern innovation. The doorbell is in excellent working condition and the set is ready to be installed.
Antique Doorbell measures 4 1/2" across and 3 7/8" on center screw holes. Rectangular button is 2 3/8" wide and  4 1/4
" tall. Rod extends 1 1/2" behind bell plate.
