Description
This gigantic circa 1930 jar has a beautiful 4 1/8" dia. hand painted Guilloche enamel scene with 2 color border. The scene was done by a very nice artist! The subtle shading of dusk above the mountains, the ruffle of her skirt, the graceful hand & foot, and even a touch of blush to her cheeks are all nice details. The border is comprised of an interior narrow white and a larger exterior of lovely pastel mint green that encircles the scene. The entire enamel lid is in excellent plus condition with no chips, cracks, deep scratches or repairs. The piece was very well taken care of and appears to have been hardly used. The 935 silver lid (sterling is 925) is also in excellent plus condition with no rips, tears, dents, deep scratches or repairs. I did find a 1/64" nick on the rim. The rim is marked with the Austrian Hoopoe Bird touch-mark for items made after 1922. It also has a mark of 935 for the silver content. The hand cut & polished glass jar is also in excellent plus condition. The glass is clear, clean, and bright. It has no chips, cracks, deep scratches or repairs. The side is cut with 18 deep concave panels that have a faceted inverted V like top and a center vertical line/facet. The bottom has been cut with a lovely, deep, star pattern. The top rim is smooth to the touch. The sides of the jar are also excellent with just a couple of those pesky 1/64" flea bites. Looking at the base of the jar you see no chips. The lid measures 5 1/4" in dia. The jar is 6 1/2" dia at the widest point & is 3 1/2" tall with lid on. The beautiful jar is in such superb, stunning condition. White spots are from glare on lid.
