    Description

    This is a Twist Type doorbell made around the early 1900's. There are no markings on the bell. The bell produces a nice ring as the key is turned in either direction. Except for the bell mounting plate which is iron everything else including the key assembly is brass.
    The bell is 3" in diameter and the backplate is 4 1/4" in diameter. The key plate is 3" in diameter. The connecting rod is 4 1/2" long so it will need to be cut to fit the door. The Key is probably not the one that came with the bell since one end of the connecting rod is smaller to fit the bell. This is common for many bells since many were sold separately from the keys, especially the lever type.
    There are reproductions of this bell but those that I have seen are not of the same quality as the originals. The reproductions are typically all cast brass since it is easier to cast than iron.
