The 04 - 09 batteries are Generation II Prius batteries, with improved cooling, which fit 2004 to 2009 Toyota Prius.  The batteries are NiMH, 7.2V , 6.5Ah, 6 cell batteries Generation II Prius Batteries. The 2001 - 2003 Toyota Prius use Gen I Batteries.
These batteries can be used to replace bad batteries in a 04 - 09 Prius HV battery, or they can be used to rebuild your 01 -03 Prius HV Battery. They can also be used for electric bikes, scooter, or electric cars.
Look Guys or Gals call me I'll tell you what I know it may or may not be helpful. Most of the 01-03 HV batteries are going out at this point. Most of the batteries are 15 years old and have over 100,000 miles on them. Rechargeable batteries only last so long. Some of the 01-03 Prius also sometime have other problems, but the HV battery will always go out sooner than later. Have your transmission oil changed. Make sure they remove the pan on the older models and clean the sludge, magnet and the oil filter.
All of my batteries are charged and tested on a computerized battery load analyzer. All batteries are load tested and conditioned at least 3 times in order to confirm a good quality battery. A good quality 04 -09 battery is a battery that is still holding about 4 or more Amphr's.
