Very Nice Antique/Vintage Unique Sterling Silver Fancy Compact

Description

Very nice antique/vintage unique sterling silver ladies’ fancy compact. This compact could be worn on a belt, attached to a bag, or may have been attached to a ring to be carried on a finger. It is personalized with the initial “ML” on the front and “M” on the back, as pictured. This compact is 3 3/8” long by 2” wide by 3/8” deep and weighs 54.8 grams. It is solid sterling silver and is marked as such in several places on the interior. It has two open and close compartments on one side of the interior and a mirror on the other side. This compact is in very good antique/vintage condition. It does have some minor creases and a few minor dings on the exterior, but the interior is in wonderful condition with nothing more than very minor surface wear on the metal. This compact has beautiful detail on the exterior. The minor wear mentioned does not detract much from this piece. The subtle marks are undoubtedly from handling. This piece was obviously loved and carried by its original owner. As it is sterling silver, it has the beauty of this precious metal to its advantage. This compact opens easily and closes firmly. It is a well made, wonderful piece of history. It was found at a high end estate sale in Northwestern Iowa in the 1960’s. I am going to guesstimate its age at somewhere from 1920 to the 1940’s. Any display items pictured are not included.
