VINTAGE WALLACE & TIERNAN FA-112 ALTIMETER ALTITUDE US CORPS OF ENG. No. 15

Description

For auction is a vintage Wallace & Tiernan Portable Altimeter, Model FA-112.
This specific model has the very low serial number of 563 and branded U.S. on the bottom of the wood case.
Recently, this Altimeter was found on a shelf of a family member's estate along with other items of similar subject matter that have been there a long, long time. I am not 100% sure of the operational condition but can say the dial moved on a recent road trip from Massachusetts to Connecticut (see pictures).
Overall the piece appears to be in pretty good shape.  The outside of the well built, metal reinforced wooden box has a number of scratches and it appears there was a label on the top of the box and bottom of the box
at one point. Attached is a canvas carrying strap with no tears or rips but is faded from the years. The feet to millibar conversion correction nomograph on the inside of the lid looks to be in fine condition with the wire in place. On the bottom of the box is is a slide out metal plate with a hole for mounting the device and the initials "U.S." are stamped in the wood.
